More than just a powder board: The Jones Hovercraft!

Supreme float and rally car-like handling have earned the Hovercraft a cult following. Riders around the world swear by the Hovercraft’s nimble maneuverability as this power-packed board deftly handles blower, crud or crust one and the same. New for 2017, the Hovercraft has a Spoon 4.0 Nose and Speed Channel tail. The edges of the Spoon nose are beveled up for improved float and turn fluidity while the tail edges are beveled up for less catch. In between the raised tail edges, the base is concave like a channel on a surfboard for improved glide. Because the stubby Hovercraft packs so much float in such a small package, it's designed to be sized 6-8 cm shorter than your average powder board.

Riding Style
The hovercraft is the real deal for Pow Slashing, crud busting and slaloming trees.

Shape
The Hovercraft has a directional shape which increases float and stability at speed. Directional is the classic snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while still giving you plenty of float, flow, and control to rip any terrain or condition. In deep snow, the blunted nose makes sure that less snow comes over the sides of your nose, as that would obviously slow you down. This also means you get the benefits of a longer traditional nose, without the extra weight. Take advantage of the Magne-Traction edges to effortlessly link turns that look and feel nice whether they are at high speeds or slow and controlled. The Magne-Traction serrated edges give great edge hold all over the mountain especially on hard pack and ice. They turn ice into powder. At the far ends of the progressive sidecut, the radius is incrementally increased as the edge reaches the contact point. Gradually increasing the side cut radius towards the contact point delivers smoother turn initiation and exit as the edge tracks in and out of the snow with a less abrupt transition.

Profile
The directional rocker profile has an under-foot camber with a larger rocker area in the nose than in the tail. The float of the rockered nose improves maneuverability while the camber underfoot provides edge hold and response. The slightly rockered tail maintains power and stability but helps to keep the tail catch-free when initiating turns and landing switch.
The new SPOON 3D-base contours were specifically designed to provide next-level glide. The smooth radius of the SPOON nose and tail edges reduce friction at the contact points. With less friction and catch in the tips, you can maintain more speed, flow and float. Spoon 4.0 is Jones' most advanced 3D-base contour pattern featuring 7mm of spoon bevel in the nose, 4mm in the tail and a 2mm deep Speed Channel between the tail edges. Concave Speed Channel pushes loose snow out from under the board for added speed.

Flex
A medium-stiff flex will ensure precise response and a lively feel.

Construction
The Classic Core is a full wood premium Slovenian poplar core that offers fun pop, even flex, and solid durability. A dual-direction, dual-layer, stitched Biax fiberglass laminate provides a fun, forgiving and snappy ride. The Bamboo Topsheetdampens your ride and offers chatter-free performance. The natural material also eliminates some plastic and lacquer which improves board sustainability. The Sintered 7000 Base is made out of a durable natural base material with added carbon for speed and good wax absorbency. At the Fusion Tech, Jones exclusive production process allows traditional Topsheet layer to be replaced with ultra durable epoxy layer saving weight and material. All Jones boards are made with oversized recycled steel edges for added durability and improved production sustainability. The Rubber edge dampening and ABS Sidewall material is made of 100% recycled material. Jones boards are ready to shred straight out of the shop and are factory waxed with WEND natural wax as well as factory de-tuned at the tip and tail so you can go right from the shop to the mountain. By flip flopping the base graphic color, P-Tex waste is drastically reduced by increasing the material yield.
