A wildly lightweight and versatile ski designed for alpine touring, the Atomic Backland 85 is built with Atomic’s Ultra Light Woodcore construction, keeping it nice and light for uphill climbing. Further reducing weight, the Carbon Backbone runs the length of the ski like a backbone, providing exceptional agility and stable edge grip on the descent. Specifically shaped underfoot to allow for easier travel when climbing, especially on longer traverses, the All Mountain Rocker profile and HRZN Tech in the tip allow the ski to float in fresh snow and charge through chop and crud with less tip deflection. The cut-out notch in the tips makes transitioning the pre-fit skins from Atomic a snap.
Sportmania review: An incredibly light and versatile ski designed for alpine hiking, the Atomic Backland 85 is a remarkable success in the very competitive segment of versatile touring ski. And above all offered at a very attractive price, which explains the incredible enthusiasm of our customers. With almost 2.5 kg per pair on the scale, the Atomic Backland 85 is intended for hikes with a vertical drop between 300 and 1000 m, as well as approaches and rides in the Alps. Very reassuring in difficult passages, the Backland also knows how to be a player when necessary. No false note for this ski which deserves the rewards collected. In a word: essential!
UltralIte woodcore
Incredibly lightweight Poplar/Caruba woods keep Backland’s weight down but without compromising downhill performance.
Carbon Backbone
One reason Backland is so versatile is the Carbon Backbone – an ultra-lightweight carbon insert that runs the length of the ski like a stabilizing backbone. This provides exceptional agility and edge hold, but also keeps the ski’s weight right down.
All Mountain rocker
A tip rocker designed to give you great performance in varying conditions and over any snow.
These are high quality PreFit Cut skins for each ski in the Atomic Backland series, so there’s no additional trimming required. They’re made from a 70% mohair mix for a really strong grip as you climb, and they’re very durable and long lasting.
