Information provided by K2
Equipped with our T3 technology (boosted construction with metal), the K2 Wayback 96 combines an uncompromising level of downhill performance with a featherweight. Whether you want to break a climbing record or just want to treat yourself to a good morning hike, the Wayback 96 offers the best power-to-weight ratio available on the market today. We all need an alpine weapon we can count on: the Wayback 96 is the perfect example.
Sportmania's advise:
The Wayback 96 is one of the most popular skis today, both in ski tests or on powder slopes. The reason is that the Wayback 96 offers the best power-to-weight ratio on the market, and it's not for nothing that our customers are overwhelmingly praising it. The K2 Wayback 96, despite its fairly long radius, is quite agile and allows it to slip between the trees in short turns with a nice rebound and good handling, in particular thanks to its pronounced rocker. Efficient, calm, it is however not a featherweight, but it is the price to pay for a sacred pleasure downhill. The Wayback 96 is thus intended for outings which will not only be dedicated to swallowing positive elevation, but for limitless control and pleasure.
Specificities:
Ready to use synthetic Mohair mix and compatible with the k2 grip system.
Technologies
CARBON WEB
Carbon fibers are woven at precise angles to maintain a lightweight construction while adding more torsional stiffness for increased performance.
TOP SHEET SNOPHOBIC
The hydrophobic topsheet (top coating of the ski) is designed to prevent snow from catching on it, which is especially useful on your climbs.
SKIN GROMMETS (CARNATIONS FOR SKIN)
Cap that can be removed to attach K2 pre-cut skins fitted with a Z-clip, or to create a rescue sled with a K2 shovel.
HYBRITECH EDGES
Hybritech is a unique blend of “cap” construction and straight edge construction. It combines the precision, power, and performance of the edges underfoot with the lightness and ease of turn initiation that characterize skis with “cap” construction.
About K2
Efficient Construction Bill Kirschner, the founder of K2, revolutionized ski design by introducing the use of fiberglass in the 1960s. Twenty years later, K2 filed a patent on the use of fiberglass. triaxial glass around a wood core to increase torsional stiffness and maintain overall soft flex. This technology is still a major component of the unique feel that K2 skis provide, now coupled with more efficient construction processes to achieve a level of pleasure hitherto unattainable.
